Hot on Dianping: Fizzy Noodles, Cheezy Goodness, Fruitcake Surprise
As much as we'd like to, we can't visit all the coolest restaurants in person. In Hot on Dianping, we introduce the restaurants that are whipping up hype among locals in-the-know on China’s favorite review app.
Bubble up at Sanquan Lengmian
User 万俟瑞雪 Wansiruixue took a wee trip to Sanquan Lengmian near Ritan park to cash in on an RMB 88 couple's combo coupon and was more than impressed by the service. As for the product, it's not often that the soup of your noodles becomes a show in itself.
Other users have taken similar videos of the noodles recently and the consensus seems to be perfection, save for the fact the cold noodles aren't exactly ideal for these cold winter months.

Saying cheese at Han Jimmy
While Chinese cuisine still carries a strong aversion to cheese, Korean food has embraced it, and that includes that country's exports to China. User 纠结静_净纠结 Jiujiejing_Jingjiujie recently filmed the highlight of her outing to Han Jimmy, a dairy-heavy Korean restaurant in Sanlitun.
Going full cow, the user and her party added an extra helping of mozzarella to their already cream-filled bowl as it sat upon a bed of saucy chicken on a hot plate.
In her review, she writes, "The bread was smothered in cheese and soaked with cream. From the first bite I thought I'd died and gone to heaven, but by the end of it, the greasiness was a bit much... You get what I mean." Indeed we do, but from the looks of it, it may be worth suffering for.

Cake-elope at Strasbourg
Just seven months late to the party, the "everything is cake" trend has finally arrived in Beijing, as netizens begin filming themselves cutting perfectly innocent cantaloupes... but surprise! It's cake. Seems like a perfect crowd pleaser for the birthday party of a fruit lover.
Among the many novelties at SKP mall, these tricky melons are available at Japanese cake shop, Strasbourg.

An education in chocolate
At another Japanese cake shop, Kesshō, user Jin綠Jin JinlüJin had a Wonka-esque awaking to the world of cocoa, writing:
Coming here was the first time I began to understand cocoa. I now know that cocoa is actually a kind of fruit, and that chocolate that is 70 percent pure or above will not make you fat.
Studying here, I learned a lot about how chocolate is processed. Though the courses were short, I still got to eat a lot of cocoa beans. Pure cocoa bean is not bad! It really is an amazing fruit, and of course it becomes even better when you add a little sugar.
