Dec 26: Walk for a Smile charity walk with Susu

On Dec 26, join Susu and volunteer-based wellbeing platform ComeUnity for a day of hutong hopping, great food, and fun activities to raise money for 3-year-old Junhao, who was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor in March 2021. Tickets cost RMB 249 per person (including all food), 100 percent of which will go to Junhao, his family, and the charity supporting him during his treatment, Children's Hope Little Homes. The walk begins with a hearty bowl of pho at Susu Longfusi before strolling to Susu Courtyard for coffee and dessert plus a mindful meditation session with ComeUnity's Juan Carlos Duran. Next, check out some hidden gems around the National Art Museum, before finishing with a plate of spring rolls at Susu near Jingshan Park.

Can't make the walk on Dec 26? You can also buy a voucher for RMB 100 which gets you all of the food stops mentioned above and can be used any time until Jan 9.

Thai curry fest at Susu

In other Susu news, to celebrate the imminent opening of their semi-sister Thai restaurant brand Pak Pak's new location at Grand Summit in Liangmaqiao, six of their restaurants around town – including the Pho Susu in Grand Summit – will be serving a curated selection of Thai curry dishes such as northern Thai-style khao soi curry noodles with chicken, massaman duck curry, and panang curry beef. We tried the latter last week and it is deliciously fragrant with a fair kick of chili, so be sure to wash it down with one of Susu's cocktails!

Pebbles celebrates 12th anniversary with loads of deals

Popular Mexican restaurant Pebbles is celebrating its 12th anniversary this December/January and you can celebrate along with the team thanks to plenty of excellent food and drink deals. From Dec 24 to Jan 3, get 10 percent off all food, including their already solid taco Tuesday and al pastor Wednesday deals. If you're coming with a big group, reserve the jumbo party set (RMB 688), featuring shareables like the signature sombrero chips and dip and whole roast chicken. They'll also have limited-edition celebration dishes such as tamarind chipotle glazed baby back ribs (weekends only, reserve ahead) and tamales with a choice of pork or chicken (Dec 24/25 and 30/31 only).

New lunch set at Las Musas

Las Musas's new lunch set offers great value and a good excuse to pop out of the office. For just RMB 50 you get two tacos of your choice, a kale salad, a roasted tomato soup, and Mexican rice. For tacos, why not go for their new beef tongue taco, featuring braised and chargrilled beef with tangy tomatillo salsa. Not going back to the office? Upgrade your soft drink to a margarita for just RMB 25. Find the deal on Dianping (ask staff to help you if you're unsure).
