Get Christmassy With This Indulgent Chocolate Treat

There are only a few days left until Christmas and if you’re looking for a festive treat to enjoy why not try this chocolate tiffin recipe. It’s super simple and doesn’t require any baking and is the perfect combination of chocolatey goodness to ring in the holiday.

Ingredients

  • 8oz digestive biscuits
  • 3oz butter
  • 3oz brown sugar
  • 3 tbsps cocoa powder
  • 1oz raisin
  • 1oz dried cranberries
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2oz dark chocolate
  • 2oz white chocolate

Method

  1. Butter and line a 15-20cm rectangular tin with baking parchment.
  2. Place the biscuits in a food processor and blitz until they are small chunks (if you don’t have a food processor you can crush them in a bowl using a heavy object like a rolling pin), place the crushed biscuits in a large bowl and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan melt together the butter, sugar and cocoa powder and stir until smooth.
  4. Stir in the raisins and dried cranberries and remove from the heat and allow to cool for a few minutes.
  5. Stir in the beaten egg until completely combined.
  6. Pour the mixture over the crushed biscuits and stir until all the biscuits are covered.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and press the mixture down, then with the back of a metal spoon smooth the top.
  8. Microwave the white and dark chocolate in separate bowls until melted, it’s best to do this in 20 second bursts, stirring in between to ensure the chocolate doesn’t burn.
  9. Pour the dark chocolate in stripes along the top of the mixture in the tin, leaving gaps in between.
  10. Pour the white chocolate in stripes in the gaps between the dark chocolate.
  11. Use the tip of a toothpick to swirl the chocolate together to create a marbling effect.
  12. Place the tin in the fridge and leave for about two hours to set or overnight.
  13. Once set, turn the mixture out onto a chopping board and cut into squares.
