A Few Spots To Grab Food and Drink Around Xingfucun, Pt. 2
A little while ago we wrote our part one of places to eat and drink around the Xingfucun area, after which we may have got a little distracted with our Sausage Fest and didn't have much time for a follow up. Now that the fest is done and dusted, though, we’re following up with our part two! This second part takes a look at places around Xingfu Zhonglu just north of the Worker’s Stadium.
El Nido x Fang Bar
This branch of popular brewpub El Nido x Fang Bar opened up in the first half of last year and was their second location at the time (they've since opened a third location near Baitasi as well). This branch is a cozy spot with a no-nonsense minimalistic feel allowing the stars of the show – the beer and carefully crafted cocktails – to shine. They’ve got an ever changing selection of beers on tap and they’ve recently also added fruity beer slushies which are perfect for the coming summer months, as well as some of Fang Bar’s signature cocktail concoctions.

O'Steak
As you can probably guess from the name, O’Steak is all about steak! They have an impressive selection of steak available including different cuts of Argentinian beef and Australian Wagyu beef, and all the steaks come served with homemade French fries, salad, grilled vegetables and a choice of two sauces. They also have other beefy options like a Double Cheeseburger (RMB 88), Spaghetti Bolognese (RMB 78) and Steak Wellington (RMB 308) as well as non-beef options too like Duck Confit (RMB118) or Cordon Bleu (RMB 118). The space itself has a clean, classy feel with a wine red color scheme and spread across two floors there are plenty of seating options.

Jing-A
This Jing-A branch boasts one of the most interesting spaces of any Jing-A with a whole variety of different seating options. There is a small seating area at the front, two large rooms on either side of a large bar on the right side, smaller private rooms for more intimate gatherings, plus another sunken bar right at the back. You can get Jing-A’s great beers to sip on or if you want something a little stronger they also have some cocktails on tap!
It should be noted that while this Jing-A location no longer specializes in barbecue, instead you can enjoy a range of Jing-A signature dishes like their banging burgers – we’d personally recommend the Stout Bacon Cheeseburger (RMB 88) – as well as a plethora of platters which are great for sharing with options including the Flying Fist Marinated Roast Crispy Chicken (RMB 188), and Mixed Sausage Platter (RMB 188). If you’re feeling snacky, they also have a multitude of small eats like Spicy Edamame (RMB 28), Lao Jim’s Fried Chicken (RMB 68), and the Cauliflower Power (RMB 38).

Oil Spilled Noodles
This popular noodle restaurant is famous for their 油泼面 yóupōmiàn, aka the famous dry noodle dish from Shaanxi province featuring biangbiang noodles – a super thick belt like noodle. It’s available either with Pork (RMB 28) or Vegetables (RMB 22). They of course have a range of other noodle dishes available too, like Noodles in Qishan Soup (RMB 28) or Tomato and Egg Noodles (RMB 24), plus a range of cold dishes and small Shaanxi snacks like 肉夹馍 ròujiāmó (RMB 14). The restaurant itself has a friendly, bright blue color scheme and casual feel. It stays open until the wee hours of the morning, making this is a great option if you’re looking for a drunken snack.

Jingzun Roast Duck
This one is a personal favorite restaurant of ours. Although it’s not the most refined roast duck restaurant in Beijing, it is very reasonably priced and foreigner friendly. They have two dining areas downstairs and an additional area upstairs with larger tables perfect for bigger gatherings. The Roast Duck is RMB 198 for a whole duck and RMB 108 for half a duck, and as per tradition, one of their expert chefs will carve up the duck tableside. Aside from roast duck, they have a range of classic dishes like Spinach and Peanuts (RMB 36), Kung Pao Chicken (RMB 50) and Dry Pot Cauliflower (RMB 42).

Great Leap #12
Opening back in 2013, Great Leap #12 hasn’t had the easiest history, being forced to close its doors for a while back in 2018 and then reopening in 2019 but without a kitchen. What with all these ups and downs it’s been great to see the venue return to its former glory in recent years, complete with new kitchen and all.
Boasting a large seating area with Great Leap’s signature long tables and a small terrace area out front perfect for summer, it’s a great casual spot to grab a beer or some food. Of said beer they have 22 of their delightful brews on tap, with regular seasonal updates – they’ve recently brought back some old favorites like Long Oasis and Iron Buddha Blond. Foodwise they’ve got their usual offerings of hot dogs, tacos, snacks, lunch specials and more.

Cafe Groove
This popular work spot recently underwent a complete renovation and the space now has an interesting clock theme. Admittedly it’s a little kitschy but with its multiple plug outlets dotted around it’s a great spot to set up your laptop and do a little bit of work. They have a range of coffees, teas, juices, and other soft drinks as well as a few bottled beers. On the food menu, they’ve got a variety of brunch dishes, salads, sandwiches, snacks and more. They have a lovely outdoor terrace area with brand new sofas which is a great little area to enjoy some evening rays.
