Mster Eric Liu Background

Founder of Beijing Sanfeng Tai Chi Club, Born in Hebei province in 1972, Eric Liu graduated from the Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 1991 but had begun his kung Fu journey much younger, at the age of 14. After decades of disciplined practice, combined with years of theoretical analysis of the Book of Changes and Tao Te Ching, Liu says he has come to deeply understand the 'internal health' benefits of practicing song gong (relaxation) qigong exercises, and has subsequently made this the focus of his studies and teachings. In 2008 he founded the Beijing Sanfeng Tai Chi Club – the same year he became a designated tai chi training instructor for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He is also a member of the Chinese Wushu Association, and a seventh generation heir of the Imperial Yang-style Tai Chi, otherwise known as Lao Liu Lu.

He believes that: "cultivating one's Qi (internal energy) not only helps us improve righteousness and resist disease, but helps us clearly understand ourselves and better perceive the universe, allowing us to achieve a wonderful state of harmony between man and nature. While the practice can improve our physical functions, it can also bring a qualitative leap in our thinking and cognition." He emphasizes that “Tai Chi lies in everywhere of our lives”; we should use Tai Chi exercise not only for physical health-building purpose, but also for its application in every aspect of life. That is - softness, balance and effortless (yielding) should be the dominant manipulating power instead of using hard, extreme and stubborn method in activities. This can help us attain a higher level of doings which Tai Chi philosophy advocate: the weak overcome strong, the soft overcome hard and the static overcome dynamic.
