CFFC Raises RMB 375,300 for This Year’s Three Charity Recipients
If you consider yourself to be a real foodie who loves to give back to the community for philanthropic causes, then you're probably already familiar with Chi Fan for Charity (CFFC), a night filled with great food and good times with friends for a charitable cause.
There's no denying that CFFC has endured multiple recent setbacks. Their 2021 CFFC Afterparty saw multiple delays and wasn't able to be held until Sep 2022. Then, after months of planning, the 2022 Afterparty, which was scheduled to take place Nov 12, had to be postponed until spring 2023 due to Covid restrictions. But despite all the challenges, the Chi Fan for Charity Committee was still able to raise RMB 375,300 for this year’s charity recipients.
This year, CFFC received tremendous support from over 50 restaurants that donated tables, as well as contributions from volunteers. The proceeds will go to three charity organizations that were appointed to be this year’s recipients – Agape Family Life House, One School Education, and FROM OUR EYES. This was the first year that three charities were chosen instead of just one.
Not only do these charities' activities span areas of education, rural development, environment protection and child care, they also fall under the UN Sustainable Development goals. Here’s a little recap of what the charities are all about.
Agape Family Life House
The main focus for this foster home is to care for special needs children with disabilities, including osteogenesis imperfecta, or brittle bone disease. Home to around 29 orphans between the ages of 1.5 and 27, the charity's goal is to help these orphans find adoptive parents who can provide them with financial care and raise them into adulthood.
One School
This program helps students who are living in rural areas by providing financial aid to reduce their family burden and to shorten the economic gap with urban students. The team consists of volunteers only and the funds are self-financed. All proceeds raised through charity will directly go to students’ or their parents' account.
FROM OUR EYES
Founded in 2015, FROM OUR EYES (full name: Yunnan FROM OUR EYES Rural Documentary And Culture Research Centre) grew out of an environment protection program initiated by NGO Shan Shui Conservation Center in 2007. The organization uses videography as a way to promote cultural preservation and education. They also aim to drive awareness for sustainable development of rural communities in western China.
For those who have been looking forward to the spring afterparty, specifics details of when that will happen haven't been released yet, but we'll keep you updated when any announcements are made!
