Beijing Says 'Boo' to Halloween Costumes on the Subway

Thinking of leaving your car or bicycle home and taking the subway to your freaks and geeks Halloween party? Think again: Beijing police are ready to arrest or otherwise exclude from public transportation the costumed, Reuters reported Friday.

Seems like it's all tricks and no treats from the city government. Fearing "trouble" ahead of next month's Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Beijing, the Beijing News said the inappropriately adorned could cause "panic."

Unlike 2013, which featured an actual Halloween subway party, "'Public transport police point out, please do not wear strange outfits in subway stations or in train carriages, which could easily cause a crowd to gather and create trouble,'" Reuters reported the newspaper as saying.

"'If chaos is serious and causes a stampede or other public safety incident, the police will deal with it severely in accordance wtih the law,'" the report said.
