Morton's of Chicago has taken an idealized concept of the steakhouse experience and brought it to life. Although dining room seating is available, private rooms are available for parties of four or more, for no additional charge. Take the private room.

Morton's is the kind of place where you have to go in the right frame of mind and the right resources. It's formal dining, and it's not an inexpensive place: with wine and appetizer and/or dessert, the tab will be about RMB 1,500 per person, including service charge. You can spend less (individual steaks are in the RMB 600 range), but if your budget is tight, then you're better off choosing another restaurant where you can enjoy the full range of its offerings.

Service here is attentive. Everything here is a classic: the martinis, the steaks, it's like stepping back into an art-deco world where eating red meat and drinking couldn't possibly have any negative impact on a person. And for one night every once in a while, it needn't.

A piece of advice: Morton's complimentary bread is delicious, but avoid it! Portions are large, many suitable for sharing, so don't fill up on bread. I can highly recommend the crab cake, which tasted like it had just arrived from Maryland; the Caesar salad; the New York Strip steak; and desserts including the Key Lime pie and the lemon soufflé. Each dish is prepared with such attention to classic detail, you think it was going to be placed under glass somewhere so that others could learn from it.

Looking forward to my next visit.

I saw this review and thought I would throw in my opinion before a bunch of poor Beijinger readers go and drop 3000rmb on dinner here.

This is not a classic american steakhouse. A high end steak house in the USA uses grain fed, dry/wet aged american beef...Last I checked (to be fair it was a while ago), china does not import USDA beef..most likly you are getting a frozen imported Aus steak(maybe grass fed..not sure) ..It makes a HUGE diffrence if you did not know.

Next, The price here is crazy ...Some of the best steak in the world can be had for 300-600rmb ..this steak is not that.

Morton's used to be badass and I used to go fairly often but the company was bought by another company called Landry's(same owners of bubba gump shrimp and other bull$h!t chains) a couple years back and the food quality has gone downhill running.

So..IMHO..save that cash and get yourself a ticket to the states and have a better meal at half the price. There is alot of super tasty things to eat in beijing..you dont need a second rate steak house experience.
