Capital Bites: New Ganges in Sanlitun, Blue Frog Opening Party and Wuliangye Tiramisu
We mourned the passing of Ganges in Sanlitun Village South, but they promised they'd be back soon with a new Sanlitun venue. It's not open yet, but for details of where you'll find it, here's this week's installment of Capital Bites.
Ganges have announced plans for a new branch in Shimao Department Store, with an April opening date likely. I can't see that being anything but a roaring success, and another fine restaurant for Shimao to go along with the excellent Nanjing Impressions.
Blue Frog at U-Town near Chaoyangmen has been in business for a couple of months, but they've finally gotten around to organizing an official opening party. That will take place March 9 and will double as a benefit for Operation Smile. RMB 100 donations on the door will go towards the charity, as well as getting you access to food and drinks.
Gao Gao, a new Taiwanese hot pot restaurant from the same people who own Cornerstone, has just opened in Sanlitun Soho.
Revelation of the week: Wuliangye-infused tiramisu at Kerry's Kitchen. Seriously. We almost went and bought a bottle of Wuliangye afterwards. You could make your own low-end version using a 7-11 tiramisu and a 2.5 kuai bottle of Erguotou, but that would be pretty rough. I'd recommend trying the real thing. While you're there, try the grill platter, or at least the incredible pork ribs.
Two reminders. Firstly, if you've somehow forgotten to vote in our 2012 Reader Restaurant Awards, click here to remedy that. There's no excuse not to, and remember, if you don't vote, you'll have no right to complain when the results come out and feel outraged.
Secondly, DiningCity's inaugural Beijing Restaurant Week is coming up from March 12-18, leaving you a little over two weeks to secure the reservations you want. Around 30 restaurants are offering three-course set lunches and dinners starting from RMB 78, including Agua, Modo, Mosto, Cepe, Terra, Alameda and more. Click here for reservations, but first of all enjoy this video our friends at DiningCity have put together with some of the participating restaurants.

It is all-you-can-eat with your RMB 100 donation, yeah. But I imagine it's going to be trays of snacks being passed around rather than Pizza Hut salad bar all-you-can-eat style.

The Blue Frog event is all-you-can-eat/drink, right? I think I read that over on Beijing Boyce.
