Surprising Skewers at Brazilian Churrascos

We'll admit, we have an instant prejudice to towards any restaurant that requires us to trek out to the Olympic Park (outside the Fourth Ring Road, urgh) but a recent visit to one of Beijing's only Brazilian restaurant Churrascos in the amply named V-Continent Beijing Parkview Wuzhou Hotel went someway to changing my mind.

Like most churrascarias, the meat comes right to your table, served on skewers and carved in front of you. Unlike the barbecues of my youth, when everything was either raw or blackened into oblivion, here all the meats – beef sirloin, beef rump, lamb, pork tenderloin, pork sausages – are cooked to perfection. We liked the spicy salsas to go with it although we would have preferred to have been served them fresh, rather than have them sitting out on the table. The tender lamb, which comes from Mongolia, and the well-seasoned sausages were our particular favorites.

We were happy to see the classic Portuguese/Brazilian dish feijoada on the buffet spread and although it suffered slightly from over-salting the black beans were cooked to perfection. Other buffet dishes include a wide selection of salads, many featuring tasty roasted vegetables, and some token Asian/Chinese dishes.

Yes, it's a bit far out for most people and yes, the decor edges on the "Costa del Sol all-inclusive hotel" side of design, but when the meat is coming thick and fast you probably won't notice.
