Clean-Air Accolades: MayAir Wins the Bluetech Award
This winter has already been marred by record-breaking levels of pollution and unprecedented red alert restrictions, but Beijingers need not fear. That’s because MayAir has emerged in the midst of all that gloomy news as a provider of air purifiers that are technologically advanced enough to win one of Asia’s most prestigious awards.
That accolade comes courtesy of the Clean Air Alliance of China, which chose MayAir to be one of the five recipients of its Bluetech Award amongst 56 other contenders spanning eight countries. Aaron Voo Chee Fui, a 24-year-old technical sales engineer at MayAir, says the award’s aim “is to seek the best international clean air technologies – be they diesel-engine pollution control, volatile organic compounds control, or indoor air purification.”
Below Voo tells us more about the significance of the award and his feelings about winning.
How does it feel to have been given the award by Bluetech?
It was my honor to represent our MayAir technical team, and receive the award at the ceremony. I felt happy and excited that those experts recognized our technology is good enough to provide a healthy indoor environment. We know that we cannot help in terms of the outdoor environment, but at least we can secure your indoor comfort. Nonetheless, if I were to choose between a promising career in a filter company or a healthy environment, I’d definitely choose the latter.
Tell us more about what prompted you to apply for a Bluetech Award in the first place. What was it about this accolade that made you want to compete?
The Bluetech award is meant to seek the best clean air technologies around the world. I believe MayAir, after having served in China’s air filtration industry for 15 years, has the capability to stand out among the others.
How did they determine that you were a winner?
We provided data and reports to show the benefits and features of our technology. The judges themselves actually came on site to collect the necessary information. They also interviewed our clients.
MayAir also impressed the judges with its patented "electric-pocket" filter technology, which can effectively filter out PM2.5 during the fresh air intake. They also saw how our filters have been widely applied in commercial buildings. Beijing Galaxy SOHO, Parkview Green and the China Trade Center are but a few of the many examples. We have been providing third party test reports and on-site test data to the judges. We even brought them to Parkview Green to see the actual system.
Now that MayAir is a Bluetech Award winner, what’s next for your company?
The Bluetech Award certificate and trophy are useful, because they are strong proof of the capability and efficiency of our technology. MayAir is not really well known around the world yet, but I believe this tour and media coverage would be helpful in changing that.
