Beijing Playhouse Drama Club Workshop at Caravan
Are you a seasoned actor looking for a new outlet in Beijing? Or raw, fresh-faced talent looking to hone your craft? Or just bored and yearning to make some new connections and benefit a good cause? The Beijing Playhouse Drama Club will host its monthly drama workshop at Caravan on Tuesday evening. Get dinner and meet other dramatically inclined locals during the social hour before the script reading (Miracle on 34th Street) begins at 7.30pm.) If you hit it big, you could win a spot in the Charity Readers Theatre, a blackbox-like, costume- and prop-free show from which all proceeds go to the Yuanzhong Gender Development Center. 6.30pm. Free. Caravan.

RMB 3 Wings Wednesday at The Local
It's Wednesday, my dudes. And it's hump day. And there is, admittedly, little happening in our big city. But worry not: Nothing keeps the lonelies away quite like high-fat, low-carb, salty, greasy American food. And no one in our fair city does said American junk food as well (or as cheaply on Wednesdays) as The Local. Yes, you apparently must order a drink to get the deal, and yes, you're likely to get swept up in the crowd's enthusiastic and heavy drinking. But try not to. Because this is as close to a hangover-free event as we could offer you for Wednesday. 4pm. Free. The Local.
Thursday, Nov 9
Itzhak Perlman Violin Recital at the NCPA
Undeniably the reigning virtuoso of the violin, Itzhak Perlman enjoys superstar status rarely afforded a classical musician. Beloved for his charm and humanity as well as his talent, he is treasured by audiences throughout the world who respond not only to his remarkable artistry, but also to the irrepressible joy of making music, which he communicates. In January 2009, Mr. Perlman was honored to take part in the Inauguration of President Barack Obama, premiering a piece written for the occasion by John Williams and performing with clarinetist Anthony McGill, pianist Gabriela Montero, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. 7.30pm. RMB 600-1,200. NCPA.
