EAT: New Tacos at Plan B, El Chino Latino II, Miss Muesli Returns, Slow Boat x Migas Mercado Christmas Craft Market
One of our favorite Shuangjing hangouts, Plan B, has just added three new tacos to the menu and we are very keen to try them all out. Choose from shrimp tacos with sesame sauce, South American steak tacos with onions and peppers (pictured in main blog image), and Atlantic cod tacos (all tacos come on corn tortillas, FYI). Three tacos are RMB 70 with a side of tortillas and roasted tomato salsa or RMB 50 for three on Tuesdays – you can even pick and choose one of each.
Mosto are back with another "El Chino Latino" dinner this Wednesday, Nov 29. Chef Juan Mateus will be serving a three-course feast of East-West fusion dishes – imagine your most beloved Mosto dishes with a sprinkling of Sichuan peppercorns, or your number-one Beijing snack with a compilation of Chef Juan’s South American sauces. The menu is priced at RMB 188 per person, including a limited-edition welcome cocktail, and cocktails are RMB 40 all night long. This time, the menu includes dishes like wood ear mushroom and artichoke ceviche and seared sea bass with roasted teriyaki eggplant. The last dinner booked out in under a day, so be sure to get in there and book ASAP.
It probably won't have escaped your attention that the holiday season is upon us and that pretty much means two things: food and shopping. All that pressure to, you know, be merry or whatever can get pretty stressful so what if you could enjoy the best of Beijing’s craft vendors while you dance and drink with your Beijing family, and snag some gifts along the way? Enter the Slow Boat x Migas Mercado Christmas Craft Market.
On Saturday, Dec 2, Slow Boat and Migas are gathering some of your favorite vendors in one place for a pop-up craft market and holiday party featuring Yeyo Coconut Yogurt, NAKED Nut Butters, Palms L.A. Kitchen and Bar, Migas Mercado, Ramo Kitchen, Slow Boat Brewery, Base Fit, and Home Grounds. There will also be a lucky draw and a series of competitions throughout the day, including an arm wrestling competition with Base Fit, a beer tasting competition with Slow Boat Brewery, and a porrón drinking competition (see event listing for full schedule), victory in which will get you a RMB 100 voucher to spend at the market.
Local craft muesli brand Miss Muesli is back with new products, new packaging, and a new logo, and to celebrate, they are holding a launch party at Naked Hub Sanlitun on Sunday, Dec 3. The event kicks off at 10am with an energetic workout by Miss Muesli partners MsUptown, Glo, Prime, and Salsation. You can then enjoy a free brunch from some top local F&B providers and be one of the first to try out Miss Muesli's new products. Register for the event for free by scanning the QR code on the poster above and remember to wear your workout clothes for a special gift.
Finishing on a slightly less healthy but very delicious note, Beijing's own pizza-baozi hybrid, Baozza, is now available at Paddy O'Shea's. Individual Baozza are priced at RMB 15 or you can get four for RMB 55.
