Feb 19: The Hutong Open Table: Chinese Imperial Cuisine
Enjoy a delicious Chinese meal and maybe make some new friends at The Hutong's new open table series. For their latest event on Feb 19, they are celebrating a style of cuisine not many of us will have tried before (although it strongly influences local Beijing cuisine): imperial cuisine. Imperial cuisine was traditionally prepared for the emperors, the whole imperial family, and even the emperor’s concubines by specially selected and trained chefs. It includes culinary traditions from most regions in China, particularly from the provinces of Shandong and Jiangsu, known for their intricate cooking methods. The Hutong's imperial dinner costs RMB 428 per person, including two hours of free-flow wine, beer, and soft drinks.
Feb 23-24: Mediterranean chef's table at Migas Mercado
Migas Mercado's executive chef Miguel Zapata is teaming up with guest chef Jarrod Verbiak for a dinner series entitled "Across the Mediterranean". Each menu explores a different Mediterranean coast; they started with the north coast (Spain, Italy, and France) in early December, and are now exploring the eastern coast including the cuisines of Greece and the Balkans (the series will conclude with the south coast, featuring Egypt, Morocco, and beyond. Available for dinner on Feb 23-24 only, the eastern coast menu, priced at RMB 688, includes a feast of dishes, including a Mediterranean mezze selection, grape leaf-wrapped sea bass, and a Turkish lamb tasting platter. Call 6500 7579 to reserve your spot.

Panorama launches cheese fondue
A traditional winter dish in the countries that border the Alps, fondue is to Europe as hot pot is to China. Admittedly a little late in the season (although with the freezing weather we're having, who cares?), Panorama has also launched its own fondue set. Three kinds of high-quality cheeses mixed in a classic fondue pot come with a large choice of dipping options, such as mixed grilled vegetables, potatoes, Parma ham, and more. The fondue is only available from Monday to Wednesday (5.30-10.30pm), and the restaurant advises that you book in advance as there are only a limited number of pots available.
