EAT: Panorama Now Open for Dinner, Pizza in Pala at Forno, Hilton Food & Wine Experience

EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.

Panorama now open for dinner with l'apéro-style menu

Cozy French crêperie and all-around influencer hotspot Panorama has finally extended their opening hours to the evening, with a dinner-specific menu that leans into the French concept of l'apéro, aka, drinks and small bites. There is a good range of dishes and the pricing is extremely competitive — a sizeable platter of cold cuts and French cheeses will only set you back RMB 188. We loved the ham and comté cheese croquettes (RMB 56) and the salmon buckwheat rolls (RMB 43). There are some larger dishes available, including imported steaks (from RMB 158 for a 200g beef tenderloin) and mussels cooked one of four ways (from RMB 128): with white wine, shallots, and herbs, tomato sauce, Sichuan spicy sauce, or French cream sauce.

Panorama is open for dinner from 5.30pm. There are no crêpes on the dinner menu right now, but never say never — we're told they're likely to make it back by popular demand, alongside some more substantial main courses such as pasta and burgers.

Forno launches all-new pizza in pala

Having already wowed Beijing with its Roman-style pizza by the slice  — aka pizza in taglia  — Forno has launched a new pizza style that's also popular in Rome: pizza in pala. Named for the wooden paddle on which they are cooked, these pizzas have thin and crispy bases thanks to a high-hydration, slow-rising dough and come in an oval shape that's perfect for sharing. The pizzas are available with four different toppings: parma ham and arugula, tomato and buffalo mozzarella, four cheese or sausage and black truffle.
