Not Yummy: KFC and Pizza Hut Parent Company Drops Kai Ko as Spokesperson After Drug Bust

Following his bust for drug use along with Jackie Chan's son Jaycee Chan (Fang Zuming), KFC and Pizza Hut parent company Yum! Brands has dropped Taiwan pretty boy Kai Ko (Ko Chun-teng) as a spokesperson, according to Chinese state media.

Now doing two weeks of hard time following a positive drug test for marijuana use, Kai was arrested with Chan on August 14. Chan faces more serious charges for possession of over 100 grams of marijuana, which carries sentences from three years to the death penalty. Jackie Chan flew to Beijing on Tuesday to address the matter.

It's been a rough summer for fast-food purveyors and drug users, especially drug-using celebrities, in China. KFC was caught up, along with McDonald's, in a scandal in late July when it was revealed that the former Kentucky Fried Chicken was serving expired meat, mislabeled by a major supplier.

Chan and Ko are the latest public figures to be ensnared in an anti-drug dragnet, which caught others including actor Gao Hu. China's theaters have already said they will not employ actors who have been found guilty on drug charges. A recent drug test/bust at 2 Kolegas of ordinary partygoing citizens has also rattled nightlife venues for its randomness and severity.
