EAT: The Danish Pop-Up, New Executive Chef at TRB Bites, Elite Dining Week

This week sees a range of higher-end dining events and news hit the Jing. Starting this upcoming Friday (Nov 11), head down to Moka Bros CBD (located in The Place) for something a little different, as fine dining restaurant The Georg sets up shop for the day to serve Danish open sandwiches as part of The Danish Pop-Up

The event starts at 11am, and will run until the very last sandwich is gone.

Further east, near the Forbidden City, we were recently honored to check out dishes by the newest addition to the TRB Bites team: the international executive chef Sebastian Schafer, whose journey before landing at Bites involved 14 establishments across seven different countries.

In the chef's tasting menu, which will alternate every two weeks, we noticed locally produced ingredients throughout, and particularly loved the pork belly (pictured at top) sitting on a bed of mash and gravy and finished of with Sichuanese leaves, also available on the regular menu (RMB 368 for four courses, RMB 298 for three courses). Another favorite was the seasonal Chinese pear dessert, which incorporates various different pear-based ingredients for a range of textures.

For more high-end dining, Elite Dining Week is back between November 11-20. Menus feature at least four delicate courses, and will be available from RMB 198 at lunch and RMB 398 at dinner. Bookings are now open here.

Beijing favorites include the abovementioned TRB Bites, Morton's Steakhouse, Maison Flo, The Cut, 29 Grill, Okra 1949, Barolo, and Brasserie 1893
